Wettest May on Record

It was rainy and wet most of the Memorial Day weekend. Clint, Brennan, Derek, Layton, Ryan, Joe and Grandpa Bruce went to Yellowstone for the weekend while I stayed home with Caleb.

I just saw on the news that Utah just broke the record for the most rainfall in the month of May. The average is just over 2". To date, Utah has received 5.16". Not a record we really want to have. The flooding in the Weber River is already happening, and once the snow pack starts to melt, there will be more flooding.

In Plain City, the most popular mode of transportation is the canoe.

"Tuesday the river jumped its banks in seven locations in Weber County and farmers in West Weber knew it was going to happen.

"We could see it coming," said Rex Hancock. "The river was just swelling."

Hancock and other farmers tried sandbagging or building barriers around their farmland but it was no match when the levee broke.

"It just came down and kept coming down and wouldn't stop," said Blair Hancock who lost about sixty acres of alfalfa."  ABC4 News Story

Syracuse Museum Field Trip

We have a great museum only a few blocks from our house. We had a morning where moms and kids from our ward met there for a private tour. Derek really enjoyed it. Caleb just wanted to run around :)

They have a lot of old farm machinery on display inside and outside of the museum.

Here's a cow that the kids can "milk". Derek thought it was great.

Easter Afternoon 2011

Easter was late this year, April 24th. After church we went to Clint's parents home for another Easter egg hunt and lunch. The boys have so much fun playing with all their cousins. There are 10 of them all under the age of 10. Marian always makes it special and they have their own egg color to find. This year they each had to find a shiny egg and inside was a ticket to choose a prize. The kids LOVED that.

Easter Morning 2011

I knew this year was going to be fun because Caleb would be able to participate in the festivities. He loved getting his basket and couldn't believe that there was candy inside the eggs!

Before church Brennan took all the eggs and hid them outside for Derek and Caleb to find. Brennan decided his new and very important job, was to hide the eggs and make sure his brothers had fun. How I LOVE that boy!! He is so good about making it fun for Derek and Caleb.

Boise Temple April 10, 2011

We had a fun time visiting the temple grounds at the Boise temple. It was really cold, but the kids enjoyed the fountain and exploring behind the wall.
