Silly Leaves by Brennan Jeffs

Each year, the PTA Reflections Program challenges students to create art inspired by a specific theme. The 2010–2011 Theme: "Together we can…"

Brennan submitted a painting and a short story. His painting received a Honorable Mention ribbon and his story, Silly Leaves, was selected to advance to the next level of competition. Brennan got up in front of a gym full of parents and other students and read his story. He did a wonderful job!

Brennan was excited about his trophy and ribbons. We are very grateful for his 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Inderrieden. She recognized Brennan's talent in writing and told us to keep encouraging him to use his gift. She said it was remarkable the way he puts stories together. She said she had one student last year that had a gift like Brennan, but that it doesn't come along very often. She said Brennan is probably in the top 1% of 2nd graders in this area.

Here is the story he submitted:

Together Leaves Can Be Silly
Once upon a time there was three leaves. They loved to play tag and hide and seek together. They loved their home. One day the leaves were dazing in the sun. The leaves fell asleep and when they woke up the leaves gasped. One of the leaves was completely yellow. The other two leaves were cross. They said we do everything together. The day was over. The leaves went to sleep again. Then it was dawn. The leaves gasped. All of them were yellow. They laughed. It was fall.

The End.
