Derek got a bug house last week. He has been busy collecting as many potato bugs, rolly-pollys, as he can. Brennan is even helping the collection to grow. I made one big rule: the bugs have to live outside. I told Derek and Brennan if the bugs get out of their cage, the bugs might crawl in their mouths when they sleep. I know it's a little dramatic, but hey, it has worked so far!!
We have a lot of ants in our kitchen. Caleb has a never-ending supply of small crumbs under his chair, so we have plenty of ants visiting. One morning I see Derek gripping the top of his sock, really tightly. He tells me that he's picking up all the ants and taking them outside. I thought, what a GREAT use of his time! He had a lot more fun picking up the ants and putting them in his sock than watching me vacuuming them up.
