Hurricane Sandy

I am so grateful for a tender mercy our family received. Last month Clint had a work trip planned the last week of October. He was to fly to Virginia and visit Langley on Sunday, Oct. 28 and return on Friday, Nov. 2. I was bummed that he would miss Halloween! Then the trip got moved to one week earlier. I was even more bummed because we had our family dentist appointments, I had a doctor's appointment, Time Out for Women and ward conference visits. It seemed he was leaving on an even worse week!

How grateful I am tonight that his trip was moved-up a week as I see the devastation that hit the east coast via Hurricane Sandy.

Flights are cancelled, power is out and Clint may have had a really hard time getting back home if he was there this week.

The Lord does look out for us and our little family.
My prayers are with all the the families affected by the storm.

Milestone

Today was a huge milestone in my life! My heart was so fun of gratitude all morning.

Brennan had a field trip to the Utah State Capitol and Utah History Museum and Derek had a field trip today to the zoo. Clint went with Derek to the zoo and I was able to go with Brennan's class.

This is the FIRST field trip I've ever gone on with my kids! We always had to have Clint go. When Brennan was first going on field trips in Kindergarten, Derek was a baby. Then Caleb came and I was really not able to go on any field trips. I just knew it wasn't something I could handle... until today. I finally felt well, Caleb was at Anne's house {the best mom/babysitter in the world!!} and I was ready to go. It was so much fun and Brennan kept saying how glad he was that I was there with him. I think it meant just as much to him as it did to me!

One boy in our group had a really, really, really hard time staying with the group and focusing. I really just wanted to give him a friendly kick in the pants. I finally had the idea to give him my watch and I told him he was the "official time keeper for our group and he was responsible to make sure we were on time to all of our meeting places." WOW, he was an excellent time keeper. He stayed right with the group and gave me updates every ten minutes. He made sure we were where we needed to be, when we needed to be there.  I was so grateful for that idea... prompting... tender mercy!

I also bought hard candy sticks at the museum and gave them to my group at lunch. Once they knew I had a treat for them, they were all a little bit better. Buying that candy was the best $1.50 I have ever spent!

I did it! I made it through a bus ride, six excited and wiggly fourth graders and two historical sites.
It was a great day!!
