Running up to the Pulpit

Caleb is a super-fast two-year-old. He loves to run away from me and giggles the entire time. He thinks it's a "fun" game.

Last Sunday he made a break for it from the back row. Clint and the other boys were in Yellowstone, so I was going solo. I ran after him and then stopped at the edge of the gym, hoping he'd see me and stop and come back. No such luck, he saw me, flashed a smile and took-off to the front of the chapel. I had the deacon who was on door duty, Scott Boyer, walk up there and get him. I knew if I tried to get him, Caleb would just run faster.

Well today Caleb wanted to play that game again. The deacon on door duty tried to grab him but missed, so here I am booking it up to the stairs to grab Caleb. He was only 2 feet from the podium. It was one of those awesome "yes-I'm running in heels after my two-year-old "moments. I was wising I was in the hall with Derek and Clint was the one in the chapel running after Caleb. I put Caleb on a chair outside the bishop's office for time-out. I'm hoping we don't have a repeat next week!

My sweet neighbor, Rene Woll, get up to bear her testimony a few minutes later. She said, "Out of the corner of my eye I could see Anna Jeffs running up to the podium. I thought, isn't that great that she wants to bear her testimony so badly that she's running. Then I saw that she was chasing after a toddler. Wouldn't it be great though if we were all running up to bear our testimonies because we really wanted to share them. We should be lining up to share our testimonies."

At least I could be the "object lesson" for the day. We all had a good laugh!
